James 'Paraffin' Young, father of Scotland's oil industry, answered a call from beyond the grave to open a science and technology club for youngsters in Aberdeen.
The Basement Bunch, an extension to Satrosphere, an interactive science exhibition, was made possible by a £100,000 donation by BP's Andrew Project Alliance.
The alliance brought the Andrew field on stream six months early and £80 million below budget through its innovative approach.
Dr Young (actor Alistair Harvey) reminisced about his past with Broomhill primary school pupils. Chemistry apparatus used by the oil pioneer was on show along with some of his memorabilia. He was able to catch up on technology, too, as the pupils demonstrated their skills on computers.
