Theatre group give a healthy performance

Health warnings are contained in a show by a mobile North-east theatre company - but the performances can actually improve fitness.

And Live Wire theatre group is offering free performances to Aberdeen communities thanks to a council cash handout.

The innovative drama group, based at Newtonhill, develops productions to highlight science and health advice.

The group even puts on 7am performances to oil company staff warning about the wrong way to life heavy items.

Executive director Vanessa Chew said the performances added a little variety to the run-of-the-mill videos shown to staff.

Aberdeen City Council arts and recreation department recently awarded the company £600 to cover the costs of five community performances.

Community groups can choose from a list of productions including global warming, healthy eating and the weather.

Vanessa said: "We are in our sixth year now, with a team of eight and can adapt our performances to the groups' needs. We do a lot of shows for schools, Guides and over-50s groups who often want something a little different for their meetings."

Any group which wants more information about the free performances can contact Live Wire Productions Ltd, 9 Heathfield Park, Newtonhill, AB39 2RZ. The groups must be in Aberdeen City Council area.
