Dramatic way to spell dangers

A hard-hitting play warning of the dangers of alcohol has premiered in Aberdeen.

Live Wire Productions performed the play 'Double Vision' at the Aberdeen University Student Union.

The gritty drama is set in a police cell and involves two characters who tell each other how alcohol has affected their lives.

The play is being performed in community venues and secondary schools across Grampian.

After each performance interactive audience/character workshops take place.

The drama was written by local journalist Nicola Barry and support worker Susanne Kearney after the Drinkwise alcohol advice group recorded a rise in the numbers of Scottish youngsters hitting the bottle.

Grampian Health Board alcohol officer Jennie Biggs said: "The play emphasises the message that while alcohol is an accepted part of our society, it can also cause problems and it's not acceptable to blame these problems either on the drink itself or on someone else."
