(Aberdeen: 30 th March 2006) Secondary school pupils visiting Aberdeen's Exhibition & Conference Centre have been entertained by an interactive game show to promote careers in the energy industry.
Shell was one of 30 organisations taking part in 'Make it in Scotland', a Careers Scotland event attended by 4,600 S2 pupils from 38 Secondary and Special Needs schools across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
Throughout the four-day event, Aberdeen-based theatre in education company, Live Wire Productions, presented the 'Energy Industry Careers Wheel of Science' game show on behalf of Shell UK, challenging pupils to participate by spinning the wheel and answering questions designed to encourage them to explore a wide variety of energy industry career options.
Margaretha Simpson of Shell UK's External Affairs Department, said: "There are some wonderful career opportunities in the energy industry and Shell is delighted to assist in making young people aware of the options available to them."
Cults Academy Guidance Teacher, Mr Parks, said of the 'Energy Industry Careers Wheel of Science': "It was a really lively presentation, with a good balance between entertaining the kids and giving them the facts."
George Maxwell, Enterprise in Education Manager with Careers Scotland, said: "'Make it in Scotland' gives young people hands-on experience of the workplace to help them make their subject choices and lets manufacturers raise their profile in the local area."
