Moray pupils can hook up to games, information and quizzes that support the anti-drugs message.
A brand new online resource has been launched in Grampian to raise drug awareness among primary pupils across Scotland.
Youngsters can log on to the site, ‘Watch Out! Drugs' free of charge at www.bizzikid.co.uk .
The resource, launched by Aberdeen-based Live Wire Productions, has been funded by the Scottish Drugs Challenge Fund and the bizzikids children's website.
A colourful, interactive guide, suitable for children aged 10 and over, it features games, fact files on a variety of legal and illegal drugs, an interactive drugs challenge quiz, and activity sheets to support teachers in the classroom.
It has been designed to support ‘Hooked!', an innovative drug education musical resource for schools. Developed in partnership with Grampian Police and the Aberdeen City Council Joint Drug and Alcohol Team, Scottish Drugs Challenge Fund backing has ensured that every school in Scotland can receive a fully funded copy of the resource.
Thousands of applications for ‘Hooked!' have already been received from schools and drug action teams for distribution later this term.
The Challenge Fund – an Executive awards scheme administered by Scotland Against Drugs – aims to unite the public, private and voluntary sectors in helping communities address the problems of drug misuse in Scotland at a grass-roots level.
Vanessa Chew, managing director of Live Wire Productions, said: “We are delighted, with the development of ‘Watch Out! Drugs', children with internet access at home will also have the chance to reinforce learning and deepen their understanding of the important issues while having fun with online games and activities.”
Schools can find out how to register for their fully funded copy of ‘Hooked!' by contacting Live Wire Productions on 01224 59277.
